Manages and oversees the day to day operations of the accounting department. Develops and maintains processes to facilitate the collection, verification and reporting of financial data. Develops and maintains accounting practices and procedures to ensure all financial information reported is accurate and complete.
Manages the month-end close process for areas of responsibility, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with the close calendar. Ensure the timely and accurate issuance of financial statements and management reports.
Reviews and analyzes entity financial statements in accordance with Aurora?s accounting policies and United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Manages the investigation and research of questions related to internal financial reporting matters raised by finance or operations to ensure financial activity is recorded in a manner consistent with Aurora?s accounting policies and procedures and United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Reviews the analytical review of entity financial statements in accordance with management specifications, including comparison to budget and historical trends. Ensure any issues identified are investigated and resolved.
Manages the implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements as needed per changes in Aurora?s accounting policies and procedures and/or as required by new regulations.
Proactively reviews assigned areas of responsibility for continuous process improvement. Identify inefficiencies in work flow and implement new processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and appropriate internal controls.
Responds to internal and external auditors? requests and queries, ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special assignments, as needed.
Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal controls over areas of responsibility.
Oversees and participates in training others as needed within accounting and finance.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP. Ability to solve problems while coordinating projects, communicating changes and monitoring progress Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks meeting deadlines with accurate and detailed results Excellent communication skills, written and oral, for effective interaction with all levels of company personnel Strong project management and process improvement skills Excellent analytical skills, combined with sound business judgment and ability to communicate with management and staff. Highly motivated, energetic, hands-on. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be a hands-on leader.
