Aurora Health Care uses an online reference system to validate your work experience. If you progress in the hiring process, you will be asked to submit the names and email addresses of at least five reference contacts from your current or previous employers and/or educational institutions. No personal references will be accepted. You are encouraged to prepare this information in advance should you need it.
Aurora Health uses a hair testing process to screen for illegal drug use. A hair sample large enough to satisfy the requirements of the test will be cut, most often from the back of the head. Typically these samples are about the width of a popsicle stick. Please note, braids, extensions and/or artificial hair may need to be temporarily removed to obtain an appropriate hair sample.
Physicals of newly hired caregivers are conducted through Aurora's Occupational Health clinics and include a health history, vision testing, tuberculosis blood test, and review of vaccination record. Certain positions will also require physical function testing.
As an integral part of our wellness program, Aurora requires all caregivers to receive the annual flu vaccination as a condition of employment. This helps to ensure that we are doing all we can to help our patients and each other live well, and to protect everyone's health and safety. This policy applies to all Aurora personnel, including caregivers, employed physicians, volunteers, all contracted personnel, and students and trainees in any setting. There is an exception process for those caregivers with a nationally accepted, documented, medical contraindication or religious belief.
As a health care organization, Aurora Health Care is required by state law to complete a criminal background check on all of our newly hired caregivers. If you are offered a position with us, you will receive via email a request to complete the Background Information Disclosure (BID) form which is required by the State of Wisconsin and allows Aurora to run the check. You should be prepared to provide information on any pending criminal charges, as well as any felony or misdemeanor convictions, and any guilty pleas or findings for municipal ordinance or tribal court violations. Please be aware that very few offenses will prevent your hire, but failure to disclose any of them may result in a withdrawal of the offer of employment.
