The Employment Process

  • What do I need for references?

As part of our commitment to hire the best caregivers that will place the patients at the center of all that we do, we will be using an online reference system to check on your work history. If you are chosen to be considered further in the process, you will be required to submit a minimum of five reference contacts, including email addresses from your current/previous employers and/or educational institution(s). No personal references will be accepted. You will be notified when to submit your reference contacts so please be prepared with this information.

  • What can I expect during a drug screen?

Aurora Health Care screens for drugs using hair testing. A sufficient hair specimen will be collected to satisfy the testing sample requirements (approximate size width of a popsicle stick). NOTE: Braids, extensions and/or artificial hair may need to be temporarily removed to obtain an appropriate hair sample.

  • What can I expect for my physical?

A pre-placement health screening will be conducted on the following items: health history, vision testing, tuberculosis and vaccination record.

  • What do I need for the required criminal background check?

As a health care organization, Aurora Health Care is required by state law to complete a criminal background check on all of our newly hired caregivers. If you are offered a position with us, you will be asked to complete the Background Information Disclosure (BID) form which is required by the State of Wisconsin and allows Aurora to run the check. You should be prepared to provide information on any pending criminal charges, as well as any felony or misdemeanor convictions, and any guilty pleas or findings for municipal ordinance or tribal court violations. Please be aware that very few offenses will prevent your hire, but failure to disclose any of them may result in a withdrawal of the offer of employment.

  • Does Aurora Health Care have a mandatory Flu Vaccine?

As an integral part of our wellness program, Aurora requires all caregivers to receive the annual flu vaccination as a condition of employment. This helps to ensure that we are doing all we can to help our patients and each other live well, and to protect everyone’s health and safety. This policy applies to all Aurora personnel, including caregivers, employed physicians, volunteers, all contracted personnel, and students and trainees in any setting. There is an exception process for those caregivers with a nationally accepted, documented, medical contraindication or religious belief.

  • My search isn’t providing me with the position I’m looking for or any positions at all?

If your job search has produced nothing that interests you, you can try again using a different keyword, or less specific or fewer search criteria. You may also set up a Job Agent, this will allow you to be notified via email when any position fitting your search criteria is posted. To set up a Job Agent use the Advanced Search option to enter your criteria and then click on the Save Search button. NOTE: If you searched for a specific Job Opening ID and the position does not show up, that may mean it has been pulled from the site because it has been filled.
